Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Damian Flintoff took the kick off in the first half of the match. Jon Dixon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jim East's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. When Jim East fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oswestry's protests and gave Jim East a yellow card for diving instead. Jim East hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Doug Clarkson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Miles Wicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miles Wicks made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Scott Duke sent off a good shot on target. Tris Kerfoot hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Jim East fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Dixon having to interfere. Scott Duke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Miles Wicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jon Dixon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Flintoff in the 34th minute of play. Jon Dixon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Flintoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. If Doug Clarkson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Doug Clarkson made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Oswestry booed when Ormskirk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathon Harding didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Damian Flintoff managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oswestry's supporters rose to their feet, but Damian Flintoff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jon Dixon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damian Flintoff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Jon Dixon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Josh Fitzgerald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jon Dixon came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Oswestry's Jim East. But to his dismay, Jim East quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Scott Duke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76thth minute of the game Scott Duke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oswestry's Miles Wicks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Oswestry's Damian Flintoff slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jon Dixon. That made the score 0-2 after 79 minutes of play. Miles Wicks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doug Clarkson, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 85 minutes into the game, Jim East cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Jon Dixon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jim Easts short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Jon Dixon to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 93rd minute, Jim East fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A hard shot 96 in the game by Jim East from a close distance when the talented Jon Dixon managed to make a qualified save. Ormskirk's players were relieved. Oswestry's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
