Spectators: 5200 (Terracing: 4100, Seating: 1100, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rex Burgess started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute of the match Harvey Freeman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henry Downes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Wroughton's Henry Downes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rex Burgess in the 6th minute of play. In the 7th minute Nigel Stayton collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. 7 minutes into the game, Harvey Freeman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillhead's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wroughton the free kick. John Bonds fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Gough having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, Wroughton's goal looked a bit too open when Rex Burgess came free, but Henry Downes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ty Welsh scored 0-2 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Henry Downes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 24 minutes into the match, Wroughton's goal looked a bit too open when Rex Burgess came free, but Henry Downes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ty Welsh in the 38th minute of play forced Wroughton's goalkeeper Henry Downes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Vinnie Cahill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hillhead's supporters rose to their feet, but Vinnie Cahill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henry Downes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Henry Downes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rex Burgess in the 41st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Syd Millman during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 42nd minute, Syd Millman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 43 minutes, Ty Welsh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hillhead's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ty Welsh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 46 minutes of play, Hillhead's Rex Burgess made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henry Downes was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Wroughton players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Hillhead were winning 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Syd Millman was the one to do the kick off. John Bonds blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Walter Gough having to make a save. When Hillhead's Rex Burgess in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wroughton's goalie prevented a goal. Henry Downes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rex Burgess, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Rex Burgess received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Henry Downes came out and tried to block the shot, but Rex Burgess slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 61st minute. Ty Welsh took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Henry Downes. Henry Downes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Jimmy Halford charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jimmy Halford the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 69 minutes into the game, Ged Brighton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wroughton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hillhead the free kick. Ged Brighton kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Wroughton's Henry Downes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Wroughton from getting a goal against them. Henry Downes had great luck who in the 77thth minute grab hold of the ball when Rex Burgess from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. A collision led to Hillhead getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Vinnie Cahill hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Wroughton's Calvin Spencer got a free kick in the 87th minute. Henry Downes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rex Burgess in the 93rd minute of the match. Ty Welsh hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The Hillhead supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Hillhead would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
