Lucas Ellerker kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. In the 11th minute of the match Shaun Dixon sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adam Beavan skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Garforth in the 14th minute of play forced Waterfoot's goalkeeper Curtis Bellamy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Rayleigh's Julian Garforth sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Curtis Bellamy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Syd Morning recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rayleigh's Adam Beavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Jennings in the 20th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Karl Jennings left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Waterfoot fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Jennings in the 25th minute of play forced Rayleigh's goalkeeper Adam Beavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Rayleigh getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Lucas Ellerker hit a great ball. Julian Garforth's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Curtis Bellamy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rayleigh's zone, Syd Morning stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adam Beavan came out of the goal and Syd Morning tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl Jennings kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Curtis Bellamy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lewis Downham in the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Syd Morning in the 40th minute of play forced Rayleigh's goalkeeper Adam Beavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Garforth made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Rayleigh's zone, Karl Jennings stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adam Beavan came out of the goal and Karl Jennings tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adam Beavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Syd Morning, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Curtis Bellamy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenny Tyrell's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. The supporters of Waterfoot booed when Rayleigh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kenny Tyrell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kenny Tyrell during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Syd Morning blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adam Beavan having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Lucas Ellerker's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Curtis Bellamy was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kenny Tyrell in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Curtis Bellamy saved Waterfoot from getting behind. A collision led to Waterfoot getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Stephen Hayes hit a great ball. In the 79th minute, Joey Hirst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kenny Tyrell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adam Beavan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karl Jennings in the 93rd minute. The Rayleigh supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Waterfoot's performance. The match ended with a win for Waterfoot.
