Spectators: 7465 (Terracing: 5600, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 149) Norman Pell made the kick off and thus started the match. 3 minutes into the match, Rotherham FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gordon Cohens came free, but Jonny Reed reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benji Kidd hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 5th minute of the match Joey Barfield shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonny Reed showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Norman Pell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute, Gordon Cohens made a precise shot to the right of Jonny Reed. Rotherham FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 17 minutes into the game, Benji Kidd was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rotherham FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carlton in Lindrick the free kick. Jason Christie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Crispin Mansfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Terry Crouch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute Gordon Cohens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonny Reed saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jason Christie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barney Rundell kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gordon Cohens made the kick off in the second half. Crispin Mansfield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norman Pell in the 53rd minute of the match. When Oscar Ward came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Rotherham FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Ward couldn't finish the play. Jason Christie might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Crispin Mansfield. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jason Christie ran back to his position shaking his head. Crispin Mansfield didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Norman Pell went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Norman Pell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Norman Pell scored 3-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Crispin Mansfield, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Carlton in Lindrick booed when Rotherham FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alistair Sparkes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rotherham FC were furious when Jake Bibby was red carded, 72 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. A collision led to Rotherham FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Jake Bibby hit a great ball. Barney Rundell came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonny Reed could save by the left post. Carlton in Lindrick's Crispin Mansfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jay Warner in the 77th minute of play. Rotherham FC's Norman Pell managed to work through Carlton in Lindrick's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Norman Pell dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Norman Pell in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Crispin Mansfield prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 96th minute, Norman Pell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rotherham FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
