After a rather tough play, Rugeley Utd's Janes De Vadder got a free kick in the 4th minute. Augusto Bellone was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Les Coogan. In the 8th minute of the match Janes De Vadder shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lawrence Bowden showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fraser Mitchell-King in the 10th minute of play forced Rugeley Utd's goalkeeper Augusto Bellone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute, Bart Burnham left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rugeley Utd fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Barry Knowles hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. The supporters of Rugeley Utd booed when Atherstone was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matty Banks didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute Philip Burnett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Bowden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ryan Basham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lawrence Bowden having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Calum Sullivan during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fraser Mitchell-King could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Augusto Bellone made a huge save. In the 35thth minute of the game Philip Burnett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atherstone's Lawrence Bowden was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fraser Mitchell-King got free with Augusto Bellone in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 39 minutes into the match, Bart Burnham notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Atherstone's Lawrence Bowden. Lawrence Bowden was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bart Burnham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The wind increased when Rufus Brookes made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Rugeley Utd's Philip Burnett sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lawrence Bowden narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 86 minutes, Bart Burnham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rugeley Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bart Burnham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lawrence Bowden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Burnett in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 89 minutes, Ryan Basham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rugeley Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryan Basham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
