Gary Boulding came out of the goal and Dylon Talbot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th match minute, Golders Green United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Will Flower to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dylon Talbot in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gary Boulding prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gerry Kerridge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gordon Mansfield having to interfere. Andre Jeffrey hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Golders Green United's Bobby Tinker was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 23rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 27th minute, Ben Bullock ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gary Boulding was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Graeme Berry's late challenge caught a Golders Green United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Graeme Berry helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Clacton fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Gordon Mansfield went to the wrong direction when Will Flower was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The supporters of Golders Green United booed when Clacton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graeme Berry didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ben Bullock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 47 in the game by Bobby Tinker from a close distance when the talented Gordon Mansfield managed to make a qualified save. Clacton's players were relieved.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dylon Talbot made a kick off. Bobby Tinker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Gordon Mansfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gary Boulding took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dylon Talbot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had been going on for 63 minutes, Clacton's Scott Howson got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gary Boulding. Ben Bullock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gary Boulding having to make a save. In the 69th minute Gerry Kerridge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gordon Mansfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Golders Green United's Bobby Tinker sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gordon Mansfield narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Dylon Talbot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Golders Green United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Clacton's performance. The match ended with a win for Clacton.
