Mevagissey Stadium
Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Ethan Featherson started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Mevagissey's Nicky Stewart got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Chatham's Victor Goacher got control of the ball when Darius Silk tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Darius Silk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute, Guy Peakman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chatham fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 19th minute Tristram Worrall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nath Seabourne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Rod Beattie fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mevagissey's protests and gave Rod Beattie a yellow card for diving instead. After 19 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mevagissey! Nath Seabourne had in the 21stth minute some difficulties stopping Brandon Budge's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Tristram Worrall struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Nath Seabourne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chatham. 27 minutes into the game, Philip Shilton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Nath Seabourne was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Mevagissey getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Nicky Stewart hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tristram Worrall in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nath Seabourne saved Mevagissey from getting behind. In the 34thth minute of the game Tristram Worrall who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mevagissey's Nath Seabourne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nath Seabourne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tristram Worrall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nath Seabourne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philip Shilton, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The audience was convinced that Tristram Worrall's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nath Seabourne was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. In the 41st match minute, Mevagissey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gareth Bonham to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tristram Worrall in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nath Seabourne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tristram Worrall to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Mevagissey's goalkeeper Nath Seabourne had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Philip Shilton. Gareth Bonham hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Mevagissey's Nath Seabourne proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Mevagissey from getting a goal against them. Guy Peakman struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Nath Seabourne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chatham. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mevagissey's goalkeeper Nath Seabourne, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 63 minutes into the match, Mevagissey's goal looked a bit too open when Tristram Worrall came free, but Nath Seabourne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mevagissey's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Tristram Worrall scored to the left of an out of position Nath Seabourne, making the score, 0-3. 71 minutes into the game, Tristram Worrall cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Nath Seabourne was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 75th minute, Frazer Aiston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 76 minutes into the match, Chatham's Brandon Budge broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Mevagissey's defense didn't have a chance, in the 79th minute, when Tristram Worrall scored to the left of an out of position Nath Seabourne, making the score, 0-5. Tristram Worrall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nath Seabourne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Mevagissey's Gareth Bonham got a free kick in the 90th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Philip Shilton kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nath Seabourne. That made the score 0-6 in the 91 minute of play. If Philip Shilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Chatham left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mevagissey.
