With a left leg Dale Skinner saved Senrab from getting behind. Lance Barat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Garry Corrigan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Newnham City's Oscar Bannister played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Hamer in the 45th minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, Newnham City's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Hamer came free, but Oscar Bannister reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eric Hamer made a kick off. The Newnham City fans' excitement grew in the 53rd match minute when Newnham City's Chesney Vassell looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Oscar Bannister took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Hamer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dale Skinner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chesney Vassell, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Johnathon Manson charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Johnathon Manson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Newnham City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Senrab a penalty, 81 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Leigh Carr, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Newnham City's Oscar Bannister. 1-2. In the last second Dale Skinner throw himself and got hold of the ball when Chesney Vassell in the 84thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. During the 84th minute of the match Phil Dickner completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Phil Dickner a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Phil Dickner kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Garry Corrigan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Dale Skinner when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Senrab getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Gaz Cooper hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute Chesney Vassell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Skinner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chesney Vassell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Dale Skinner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Newnham City's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
