Jeff Perkins started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Francis Bailey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glastonbury were furious when Rich Lambourne was red carded, 6 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 5 minutes into the game, one of Glastonbury:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Congleton a penalty, 8 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Stew Skinner, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Glastonbury's Felix Gill. 0-1. Francis Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Felix Gill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Gill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeff Perkins in the 28th minute of the match. After 32 minutes, Jeff Perkins made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Glastonbury's Felix Gill tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 35 minutes, Robbie Holt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Congleton and the Glastonbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Congleton getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Robbie Holt hit a great ball. If Jeff Perkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Francis Bailey struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Felix Gill didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Congleton. Felix Gill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeff Perkins in the 43rd minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Congleton's Jeff Perkins sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felix Gill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Adrian Davis came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Congleton fans jumped to their feet. During the 70th minute of the match Robbie Holt completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Robbie Holt a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Congleton getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Robbie Holt hit a great ball. Johnathon Gavan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rueben Blake read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. In the 74th match minute, Congleton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeff Perkins to maneuver through the defense. Johnathon Gavan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Rueben Blake tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee ignored Congleton's protests and gave Adrian Davis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th match minute, Congleton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Davis to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 83 minutes, Francis Bailey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Congleton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francis Bailey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Glenn Lawton's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Felix Gill skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Francis Bailey in the 87thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Felix Gill, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Rhys Hughes struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Rueben Blake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Glastonbury. Congleton's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
