Benji Messenger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kirk Carlick made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alistair Broadhead in the 9th minute. Tyler Thompson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Dawson having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Havant's Tyler Thompson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Charles Dawson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kirk Carlick made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Alistair Broadhead sent off a good shot on target. Gerry Rose kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Kirk Carlick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benji Messenger, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. If Tyler Thompson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Charles Dawson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Billy Newton in the 41st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Billy Newton in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charles Dawson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tyler Thompson might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Charles Dawson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tyler Thompson ran back to his position shaking his head. After 46 played minutes Stretford got a freekick which was hit by Stu Newton. After some careless play in the Stretford defense, Tyler Thompson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Charles Dawson. The Stretford fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Charles Dawson should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Alistair Broadhead received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Kirk Carlick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alistair Broadhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 58 minutes into the game, Stretford's Benji Messenger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kirk Carlick made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 61st minute, Benji Messenger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Stretford's Charles Dawson got control of the ball when Billy Newton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tyler Thompson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Dawson having to interfere. Stretford's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Tyler Thompson 76 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. The supporters of Havant booed when Stretford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stu Newton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Stretford's Stu Newton got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Havant's Simeon Haper couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 84th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Stretford. If Alistair Broadhead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Havant getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ricky Jenkins hit a great ball. When Alistair Broadhead came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Stretford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alistair Broadhead couldn't finish the play. Stretford's Alistair Broadhead got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Havant getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Gerry Rose hit a great ball. Alistair Broadhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
