After 13 played minutes Hertfordshire Hurricanes got a freekick which was hit by Frazer Bedford. Al Bzeu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 14th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradley Hughes in the 23rd minute of play forced Canvey Island's goalkeeper Verne Gavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Hertfordshire Hurricanes's Rodney Trotter slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Verne Gavan. That made the score 3-0 after 27 minutes of play. Hertfordshire Hurricanes's Ulrik Brønsvig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tris Hartshorn in the 29th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hertfordshire Hurricanes's Rodney Trotter got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute, one of Canvey Island:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canvey Island. Rufus Barfield shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Rufus Barfield scored 4-0 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Verne Gavan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 40 minutes, Sidney Hawke mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hertfordshire Hurricanes and the Canvey Island players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Canvey Island booed when Hertfordshire Hurricanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Hawke didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Hertfordshire Hurricanes's goal looked a bit too open when Stu Green came free, but Ulrik Brønsvig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Canvey Island's Verne Gavan got control of the ball when Basil Dolby tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rodney Trotter to make the kick off. Rodney Trotter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Verne Gavan having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bradley Hughes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Verne Gavan was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 66th minute Rodney Trotter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Verne Gavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bradley Hughes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Verne Gavan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Canvey Island's goal looked a bit too open when Bradley Hughes came free, but Verne Gavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, Rodney Trotter had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Verne Gavan. Canvey Island's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodney Trotter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Canvey Island's Verne Gavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frazer Bedford in the 77th minute of play. Stu Green hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Verne Gavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frazer Bedford in the 80th minute of the match. Canvey Island's Verne Gavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keith Kennedy in the 82nd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Rodney Trotter made a precise shot to the right of Verne Gavan. Canvey Island's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. After 89 played minutes Canvey Island got a freekick which was hit by Frank Clarke. In the 91st minute, one of Canvey Island:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canvey Island. In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for Hertfordshire Hurricanes. Rufus Barfield stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Verne Gavan. 7-0. 98 minutes into the match, Canvey Island's goal looked a bit too open when Rufus Barfield came free, but Verne Gavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Hertfordshire Hurricanes had played much better football throughout.
