Spectators: 6719 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rufus Gill took the kick off in the first half of the match. Jimmy Phippard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 5 minutes, Rufus Gill made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Billericay's Pat Pitts tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 13 minutes, Rufus Panther mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wheaton Aston and the Billericay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pedro Bye fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shaun Glanvill having to interfere. Shaun Glanvill came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Billericay's Jimmy Phippard. But to his dismay, Jimmy Phippard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 24th minute Rufus Gill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pat Pitts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Wheaton Aston's zone, Ronan Nevin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shaun Glanvill came out of the goal and Ronan Nevin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rufus Gill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pat Pitts having to interfere. Ian Groves charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ian Groves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Wheaton Aston fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave Billericay a penalty, 34 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Verne Matthews, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Wheaton Aston's Shaun Glanvill. 2-1. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Billericay's goalkeeper Pat Pitts, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Shaun Glanvill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronan Nevin, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Pat Pitts made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Jason Deacon sent off a good shot on target. 59 minutes into the game, Wheaton Aston's Jason Deacon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pat Pitts made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. After a defensive mix-up in Wheaton Aston's zone, Robert Ferrell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shaun Glanvill came out of the goal and Robert Ferrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shaun Glanvill stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ronan Nevin's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Rufus Gill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jimmy Phippard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Shaun Glanvill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute Ronan Nevin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shaun Glanvill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wheaton Aston's Rufus Gill got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pat Pitts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rufus Gill's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Pat Pitts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jason Deacon in the 84th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rich Rockett during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rich Rockett hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Shaun Glanvill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Phippard in the 95th minute of play. If Rufus Gill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
