Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Vernon Ashford made the kick off and thus started the match. After some careless play in the Budleigh Salterton defense, Wally Lynch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jasper Philpott. The Budleigh Salterton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jasper Philpott should have stopped the shot. After 15 played minutes Budleigh Salterton got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Brewer. Wally Lynch's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jasper Philpott firmly grabbed it by the left post. Alex Akins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jasper Rusby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick Hanson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jasper Philpott made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Wally Lynch sent off a good shot on target. Patrick Hanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jasper Philpott having to interfere. In the 26th match minute, Budleigh Salterton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Keanu Crabtree to maneuver through the defense. 30 minutes into the match, Ashton Under Hill City's goal looked a bit too open when Vernon Ashford came free, but Alex Akins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Budleigh Salterton's zone, Patrick Hanson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jasper Philpott came out of the goal and Patrick Hanson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute, Vernon Ashford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ashton Under Hill City's Piers Bell got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Ashton Under Hill City's goalkeeper Alex Akins, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Jasper Rusby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Akins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexander Hodges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 47th minute Oliver Jennings shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Akins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When Ash Hargreaves fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Budleigh Salterton's protests and gave Ash Hargreaves a yellow card for diving instead. Ash Hargreaves hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Wally Lynch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Ashton Under Hill City booed when Budleigh Salterton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfred Brewer didn't get a good kick on the ball.
