Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Grant Dickner started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Ben Hampshire managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lindfield City's supporters rose to their feet, but Ben Hampshire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phil McNiven breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 4 minutes into the match, Great Bookham United's goal looked a bit too open when Ben Hampshire came free, but Phil McNiven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dean Downton took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Phil McNiven. Great Bookham United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Marty Clark kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Quentin Rooney struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Al Townsend didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Great Bookham United. 14 minutes into the match, Lindfield City's goalkeeper Al Townsend had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Owen Wallbank. With an all-out effort, Great Bookham United's Al Townsend threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Grant Dickner, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 16 minutes into the match, Zak Ryder notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Great Bookham United's Phil McNiven. Phil McNiven was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Billy Caine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil McNiven having to interfere. Al Townsend showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Dickner, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Al Townsend made an important save on a dangerous shot by Owen Wallbank in the 27th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zak Ryder in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Phil McNiven prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute of the match, Chesney Bull tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Al Townsend saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 34thth minute of the game Zak Ryder who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Great Bookham United's Phil McNiven was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Andy Giles kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Billy Caine notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Great Bookham United's Phil McNiven. Phil McNiven was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dean Downton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dean Downton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Lindfield City's Ben Hampshire ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Phil McNiven. Phil McNiven yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Phil McNiven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Billy Caine in the 56th minute of play. Dean Downton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Phil McNiven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phil McNiven made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ben Hampshire in the 60th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ben Hampshire got free with Phil McNiven in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute, Billy Caine left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lindfield City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. If Dean Downton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute Owen Wallbank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Al Townsend saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grant Dickner in the 74th minute of play forced Lindfield City's goalkeeper Al Townsend to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Great Bookham United's Phil McNiven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ben Hampshire in the 77th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Great Bookham United's goal looked a bit too open when Dean Downton came free, but Phil McNiven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Dean Downton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 81st minute, Chesney Bull hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Lindfield City's Dean Downton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phil McNiven narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Billy Caine succeeded in the game's 86th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-5. In the 90th minute, Billy Caine ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Phil McNiven was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Dean Downton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lindfield City played a much better game than Great Bookham United and deserved their victory. The Great Bookham United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
