Zak Shields took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Herring, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mark Groves kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Des Hardcastle kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. After having played for 15 minutes, Kris Styles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cheshunt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kris Styles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Denzil Wardell took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zak Shields. Zak Shields dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 21 minutes into the match, Northleach United's Mark Groves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thomas Bassett narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Northleach United defense, Kris Styles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zak Shields. The Northleach United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zak Shields should have stopped the shot. After 30 minutes, Ralph Newman made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cheshunt's Thomas Bassett tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Denzil Wardell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Denzil Wardell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mark Groves's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Thomas Bassett skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The audience was convinced that Ralph Newman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thomas Bassett was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. 64 minutes into the game, Denzil Wardell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cheshunt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Northleach United the free kick. In the 64th match minute, Cheshunt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denzil Wardell to maneuver through the defense. If Denzil Wardell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denzil Wardell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Zak Shields tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thomas Bassett was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ralph Newman showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 80 minute of play. In the 84th minute, Kris Styles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zak Shields was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Martyn Herring during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ralph Newman spun around in front of the goal 90 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Cheshunt's goal. If Kris Styles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Northleach United players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cheshunt.
