Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) Rupert Maxwell started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a rather tough play, Alderney United's Lawrence Hill got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After having played for 7 minutes, Bart Palmer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alderney United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bart Palmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Rupert Maxwell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th match minute, Alderney United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daryl Bibby to maneuver through the defense. Rupert Maxwell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bart Palmer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Bassett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Barry Thurman made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Kris Styles sent off a good shot on target. Thomas Bassett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bart Palmer in the 23rd minute of play. Rupert Maxwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Cheshunt's Martyn Herring got a free kick in the 26th minute. When Rupert Maxwell came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Alderney United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rupert Maxwell couldn't finish the play. In the 29th match minute, Cheshunt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Des Hardcastle to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denzil Wardell in the 34th minute of play forced Alderney United's goalkeeper Barry Thurman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bart Palmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Thomas Bassett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th match minute, Cheshunt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denis Scrivener to maneuver through the defense. Rupert Maxwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Denzil Wardell made a kick off. Russell Burnett's late challenge caught a Alderney United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russell Burnett helped the player get up and apologised. Russell Burnett kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Kris Styles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cheshunt's supporters rose to their feet, but Kris Styles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barry Thurman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bart Palmer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Thomas Bassett made a huge save. If Bart Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bart Palmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Cheshunt getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Martyn Herring hit a great ball. After having played for 75 minutes, Rupert Maxwell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alderney United's Barry Thurman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denzil Wardell in the 84th minute of play. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cheshunt's goalkeeper Thomas Bassett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thomas Bassett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rupert Maxwell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute, Stan Barron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
