An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingos Nascimento in the 14th minute of play forced Southend City's goalkeeper Glyn Crichton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glyn Crichton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryan Tate, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Palanga FC's Bobby Murray got a free kick in the 22nd minute. When the referee ended the match the Palanga FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
