Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Nath Perkins took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 6th match minute, Moleicester City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Stonehouse to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 7 minutes, Mike Allott managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southend City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mike Allott was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cody Beckham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matty Ainsworth, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Glyn Crichton came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Moleicester City's Nath Perkins. But to his dismay, Nath Perkins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Mike Allott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nath Perkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Johnathan Bateman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Moleicester City getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Simon Anson hit a great ball. 35 minutes into the game, Nath Perkins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Glyn Crichton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 40 played minutes Southend City got a freekick which was hit by Zaq Burbeary. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Billy Gordon got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

In the 54th minute Nath Perkins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glyn Crichton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nath Perkins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Glyn Crichton was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. The supporters of Southend City booed when Moleicester City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Syd Cross didn't get a good kick on the ball. Glyn Crichton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nath Perkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Moleicester City getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nat Millman hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Stonehouse in the 69th minute of play forced Southend City's goalkeeper Glyn Crichton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Mike Allott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike Allott hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Mike Allott received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Cody Beckham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Billy Gordon notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Moleicester City's Cody Beckham. Cody Beckham was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A hard shot by Ben Notley from long distance, 96 minutes into the match, got Glyn Crichton's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The Moleicester City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Moleicester City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
