Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nigel Clist kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the game, Alec Brighton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Asot FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Basildon City the free kick. After 3 played minutes Asot FC got a freekick which was hit by Alec Brighton. Gordon Clegg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Gus Colman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damian Togwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guy Crooks stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Drew Robson's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Asot FC's Damian Togwell got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Asot FC's Ollie Gray got a free kick in the 19th minute. Alec Brighton hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute Nigel Clist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gus Colman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Nigel Clist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Asot FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nigel Clist came free, but Gus Colman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gordon Clegg came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Basildon City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gordon Clegg couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Asot FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nigel Clist came free, but Gus Colman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damian Togwell to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iain Kennedy during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Drew Robson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Crooks having to interfere. Asot FC's Gus Colman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordon Clegg in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Asot FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nigel Clist came free, but Gus Colman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Drew Robson came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Asot FC fans jumped to their feet. After 81 played minutes Asot FC got a freekick which was hit by Ollie Gray. After 86 minutes, Nigel Clist made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Asot FC's Gus Colman tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 94th minute, Gordon Clegg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gordon Clegg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Gus Colman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
