Johnathan Sykes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Owen Blythe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Sebastian Thomson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wem City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Oadby AFC the free kick. Sebastian Thomson kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Owen Blythe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francis Rotherfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute, Buster Sawbridge left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wem City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Sly Edison's late challenge caught a Wem City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sly Edison helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th minute, Sly Edison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Owen Blythe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francis Rotherfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francis Rotherfield made a kick off. 53 minutes into the game, one of Wem City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Owen Blythe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francis Rotherfield's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Buster Sawbridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Rick Knowles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Owen Blythe was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Francis Rotherfield showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-8 in the 76 minute of play. Buster Sawbridge kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Johnathan Sykes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Owen Blythe, passed just outside the right post. In the 91st match minute, Wem City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Davis to maneuver through the defense. Francis Rotherfield struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Owen Blythe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oadby AFC. After a rather tough play, Wem City's Buster Sawbridge got a free kick in the 98th minute. After having played for 100 minutes, Garth Kerr managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oadby AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Garth Kerr was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Oadby AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wem City throughout the match.
