Seating: 1709, VIP seats: 0) Winchester AFC's Trevor Amos started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Glen Alderson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bethnal Green and Hackney's supporters rose to their feet, but Glen Alderson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tom Henman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tom Henman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glen Alderson, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. If Justin Kitchen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Seb Plant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Seb Plant came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Bethnal Green and Hackney fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seb Plant couldn't finish the play. In the 24th minute, Archie Crowell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26th minute, Glen Alderson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Seb Plant had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Henman. Winchester AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Seb Plant was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Glen Alderson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julian Oakes hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Winchester AFC's Tom Henman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glen Alderson in the 48th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Glen Alderson was the one to do the kick off. Seb Plant received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Tom Henman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57thth minute of the game Glen Alderson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Winchester AFC's Tom Henman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Trevor Amos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Peter Phelps having to make a save. Seb Plant might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tom Henman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Seb Plant ran back to his position shaking his head. After 67 minutes of play, Bethnal Green and Hackney's Glen Alderson made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Henman was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronny Caine kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Bethnal Green and Hackney were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Winchester AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Julian Oakes took the corner. Glen Alderson struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Tom Henman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bethnal Green and Hackney. After 82 played minutes Winchester AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jeff Leadbeater. Glen Alderson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Henman having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Seb Plant in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tom Henman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Winchester AFC's Tom Henman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glen Alderson in the 91st minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bethnal Green and Hackney fans cheered their team off the field, for while Winchester AFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
