Spectators: 6728 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 0) Meols AFC's Les Hughes-Guy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jude Burton in the 5th minute of play. Jude Burton struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Les Hughes-Guy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United. Trevor Clayton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Meols AFC's Marcus Wadham got a free kick in the 9th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jude Burton in the 10th minute of play forced Meols AFC's goalkeeper Les Hughes-Guy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Geoff Carragher in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bradley Whitmore, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bradley Whitmore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruce Haskell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manchester United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bruce Haskell 19 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Les Hughes-Guy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trevor Clayton in the 23rd minute of the match. When Pete Coombe fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Meols AFC's protests and gave Pete Coombe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, Meols AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pete Coombe to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Bruce Haskell came free, but Bradley Whitmore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 35 minutes, Bruce Haskell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meols AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruce Haskell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Bruce Haskell came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Meols AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruce Haskell couldn't finish the play. Trevor Clayton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Les Hughes-Guy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th match minute, Meols AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Wadham to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bruce Haskell made a kick off. Trevor Clayton's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 52ndth minute, Les Hughes-Guy skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Bruce Haskell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoff Carragher in the 58th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Bradley Whitmore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stan Pollard hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Jude Burton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Les Hughes-Guy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Geoff Carragher notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Manchester United's Bradley Whitmore. Bradley Whitmore was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 78 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Pete Coombe came free, but Bradley Whitmore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geoff Carragher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bradley Whitmore having to interfere. Geoff Carragher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Bradley Whitmore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Stan Pollard got a free kick in the 85th minute. Bruce Haskell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 98th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester United's goalkeeper Bradley Whitmore, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Meols AFC fully deserved thier win.
