After a rather tough play, Bakewell United's Tristram Courtney got a free kick in the 12th minute. Bakewell United's Stew Clemence proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Bakewell United from getting a goal against them. The Bakewell United fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Bakewell United's Tristram Courtney looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 21 minutes into the match, Bakewell United's goal looked a bit too open when Vern Mullen came free, but Stew Clemence reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cowplain United's Greg Ablethorpe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Paul Maston in the 23rd minute of play. When Tyler Selby came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Cowplain United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tyler Selby couldn't finish the play. Stew Clemence stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tyler Selby's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Garry Langford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Bakewell United's zone, Tyler Selby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stew Clemence came out of the goal and Tyler Selby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cowplain United's Greg Ablethorpe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fitz Scholey in the 36th minute of play. Fitz Scholey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Greg Ablethorpe having to interfere. Samuel Todd kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fitz Scholey to strike the kick off in the second half. Greg Ablethorpe made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Tristram Courtney sent off a good shot on target. In the 54th minute, Sacha Craven hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Tristram Courtney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Bakewell United's Fitz Scholey dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. After 64 played minutes Bakewell United got a freekick which was hit by Matt Stiles. In the 67thth minute of the game Garry Langford who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bakewell United's Stew Clemence was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Garry Langford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tyler Selby struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Stew Clemence didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cowplain United. Bakewell United's Stew Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garry Langford in the 72nd minute of play. After having played for 77 minutes, Tyler Selby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cowplain United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tyler Selby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bakewell United's John Paul Maston got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered John Paul Maston off the ground. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garry Langford in the 81st minute of play forced Bakewell United's goalkeeper Stew Clemence to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bakewell United's Syd Tully got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tristram Courtney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 87 minutes, Vern Mullen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cowplain United and the Bakewell United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The penalty shot was made by Shane Dickens, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bakewell United's Stew Clemence. 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
