Harvey Battersby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deon Constable in the 4th minute of play. A hard shot 7 in the game by Wes Fawell from a close distance when the talented Martyn Bamford managed to make a qualified save. Maidenhead AFC's players were relieved. Wes Fawell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Allan Cotton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Martyn Bamford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wes Fawell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Martyn Bamford made a huge save. The supporters of Maidenhead AFC booed when Broadstairs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matt Blacknell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Deon Constable recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute, Richard Emberson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 30 minutes, Allan Cotton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Broadstairs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Allan Cotton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Broadstairs's Allan Cotton got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wes Fawell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 37thth minute, Martyn Bamford skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Martyn Bamford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Cotton, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Richard Emberson during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Maidenhead AFC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Richard Emberson hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 55th minute, Allan Cotton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wes Fawell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martyn Bamford having to interfere. Olly Gilchrist took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Martyn Bamford. Maidenhead AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Martyn Bamford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan Cotton in the 64th minute of the match. If Richard Emberson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 75 minutes into the match, Maidenhead AFC's Richard Emberson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Harvey Battersby narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Allan Cotton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Martyn Bamford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 82 minutes, Allan Cotton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some careless play in the Maidenhead AFC defense, Wes Fawell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martyn Bamford. The Maidenhead AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martyn Bamford should have stopped the shot. Maidenhead AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
