Amberley
Spectators: 6730 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1730, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Stan Titmuss took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 3rd minute, Damien McCunnie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 11th match minute, Amberley United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glyn Shaw to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Damien McCunnie in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oscar White prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Amberley United's Oscar White played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phil Chambers in the 20th minute of play. Stan Titmuss received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Johnny Arrowsmith came out and tried to block the shot, but Stan Titmuss slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Matty Morgan hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Johnny Arrowsmith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dom Cobb, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Oscar White made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matty Morgan in the 28th minute of play. If Matty Morgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oscar White showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matty Morgan in the 33rd minute of the match. Freddie Bilton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Oscar White tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sporting Hill FC's Matty Morgan in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Amberley United's goalie prevented a goal. After some careless play in the Amberley United defense, Freddie Bilton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar White. The Amberley United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar White should have stopped the shot. Matty Morgan scored 1-2 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar White, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
The wind increased when Matty Morgan made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Matty Morgan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar White saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matty Morgan struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Oscar White didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Hill FC. After 54 minutes of play, Sporting Hill FC's Damien McCunnie made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Oscar White was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Matty Morgan came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Sporting Hill FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matty Morgan couldn't finish the play. Damien McCunnie scored 1-4 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar White, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Matty Morgan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Matty Morgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Matty Morgan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Oscar White. That made the score 1-5 in the 71 minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Sporting Hill FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stan Titmuss came free, but Johnny Arrowsmith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Amberley United's goal looked a bit too open when Matty Morgan came free, but Oscar White reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Sporting Hill FC's Damien McCunnie sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oscar White narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Matty Morgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Sporting Hill FC's Blair Alderson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Sporting Hill FC's Matty Morgan in the 90th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Oscar White was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Amberley United through an amazing save. Blair Alderson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar White having to interfere. When the match was over Sporting Hill FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Amberley United throughout the match.
