Nial Foley started the match with the kick off. 7 minutes into the match, Hadleigh FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nial Foley came free, but Bart Little reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bob Gilchrists short, quick shot in the 10thth minute got Bart Little to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Oscar Halliday made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Camfield in the 14th minute of play. After 16 played minutes, Hadleigh FC's Donny Graves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oscar Halliday came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hadleigh FC reached it. Nial Foley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bart Little having to interfere. Bart Little made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Scott Brearley sent off a good shot on target. The attack was good, but when Bob Gilchrist in the 26th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Oscar Halliday showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Camfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Nial Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrian Camfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Oscar Halliday tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Sonny Holmes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oscar Halliday was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sonny Holmes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Bob Gilchrist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alderley Edge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bob Gilchrist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bart Little made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Gilchrist in the 56th minute of play. Adrian Camfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Hadleigh FC booed when Alderley Edge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seb Lister didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st match minute, Alderley Edge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glyn Ricketts to maneuver through the defense. Adrian Camfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
