Pat Chambers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sonny Holmes in the 5th minute of the match. Adrian Camfield struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Pat Chambers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hadleigh FC. If Sonny Holmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th play minute Alastair Cook came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Bart Little. 1-0. In the 26th minute, Adrian Camfield left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hadleigh FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Derek Partridge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 54th minute, Derek Partridge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bart Little was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Derek Partridge might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bart Little. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Derek Partridge ran back to his position shaking his head. Sonny Holmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Partridge scored 3-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bart Little, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Bart Little made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Derek Partridge in the 72nd minute of play. Sonny Holmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pat Chambers having to interfere. Hadleigh FC's Sonny Holmes got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Derek Partridge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Mossley United players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
