The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dave Sewell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jools Mawson in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Whitwell's Louis Hill dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Oscar Dumpleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blair Cutts in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of Whitwell booed when Modrani bocani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jools Mawson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th match minute, Modrani bocani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blair Cummins to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes Modrani bocani got a freekick which was hit by Rod Buckle. In the 21st minute, Peter Wray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute, Dan Newton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 31 minutes, Rod Buckle made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Whitwell's Dave Sewell tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Blair Cutts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Whitwell were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Modrani bocani's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Allan Styles took the corner. The corner led Whitwell's Allan Styles to fire away a dangerous shot which Oscar Dumpleton despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jools Mawson hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Whitwell getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Louis Hill hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Modrani bocani's Rod Buckle slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dave Sewell. That made the score 1-2 after 55 minutes of play. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Whitwell's goalkeeper Dave Sewell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Rod Buckle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rod Buckle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Blair Cutts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rod Buckle in the 67th minute of play forced Whitwell's goalkeeper Dave Sewell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the game, Rod Buckle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Dave Sewell was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Dave Edmonton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Marek Tompkins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marek Tompkins charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marek Tompkins the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 75 played minutes Modrani bocani got a freekick which was hit by Marek Tompkins. In the 77th minute, Jools Mawson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blair Cummins kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Oscar Dumpleton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blair Cutts in the 80th minute of the match. Oscar Dumpleton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Edmonton, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Blair Cutts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Oscar Dumpleton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dave Sewell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rod Buckle in the 89th minute of play. Oscar Dumpleton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Edmonton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oscar Dumpleton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Edmonton, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. After a rather tough play, Whitwell's Ralph Coulson got a free kick in the 95th minute. Modrani bocani played a much better game than Whitwell and deserved their victory. The Whitwell players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
