When Marlon Darby came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Liphook AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marlon Darby couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Chattenden Challengers:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Liphook AFC:s goal. In the 25th minute there was a penalty for Liphook AFC. Matt Gill stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Charles Maclean. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, David Boatman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liphook AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but David Boatman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Maclean breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 35 minutes into the match, Marlon Darby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Charles Maclean. Chattenden Challengers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marlon Darby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Thanks to some nice moves Wes Locking could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Brett Jordan however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Liphook AFC's zone, Sol Draper stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brett Jordan came out of the goal and Sol Draper tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wes Locking fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brett Jordan having to interfere. Liam Avery kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sol Draper in the 43rd minute of play forced Liphook AFC's goalkeeper Brett Jordan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marlon Darby was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Marlon Darby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Maclean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th match minute, Liphook AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garry Rusby to maneuver through the defense. After 55 played minutes, Chattenden Challengers's Bob Lobb shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Brett Jordan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chattenden Challengers reached it. Charles Maclean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marlon Darby in the 59th minute of the match. A collision led to Chattenden Challengers getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Richie Apsden hit a great ball. In the 64th minute Liphook AFC were awarded a corner. Matt Gill went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 65th minute of the match, Marlon Darby tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Charles Maclean saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Wes Locking sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute Sol Draper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brett Jordan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matt Gill hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Brett Jordan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sol Draper in the 78th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Liphook AFC's Garry Rusby got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute, Sol Draper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brett Jordan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wes Locking in the 81st minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Chattenden Challengers fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 83rd minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Charles Maclean, was totally fooled by Liphook AFC's Matt Gill, who 84 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Brett Jordan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sol Draper, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Chattenden Challengers's Sol Draper got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Chattenden Challengers supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Liphook AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Liphook AFC.
