In the 6th minute, Gav Ansell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Russell Butterworth charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Russell Butterworth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 12th match minute, Padiham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russell Butterworth to maneuver through the defense. Kasey Dines spun around in front of the goal 13 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Padiham's goal. Nath Dunn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daryl Marsden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gav Ansell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Coalville's Kasey Dines, in the 22nd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Coalville. If Pat Holdcroft had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Coalville booed when Padiham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerry Cuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pat Holdcroft recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nath Dunn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daryl Marsden's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. With a little luck, Padiham's Lenny Constantine got control of the ball when Kasey Dines tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daryl Marsden in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nath Dunn saved Coalville from getting behind. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daryl Marsden made a kick off. Nath Dunn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daryl Marsden in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55thth minute of the game Daryl Marsden who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coalville's Nath Dunn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Daryl Marsden came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Padiham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daryl Marsden couldn't finish the play. After having played for 58 minutes, Gav Ansell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coalville's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gav Ansell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pat Holdcroft sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nath Dunn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daryl Marsden in the 67th minute of the match. Kasey Dines received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Lenny Constantine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Gav Ansell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coalville fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 82 played minutes, Padiham's Gregory Dixon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nath Dunn came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Padiham reached it. Derek Gilchrist charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the game, Bradley Langford was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coalville's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Padiham the free kick. After 85 played minutes Coalville got a freekick which was hit by Bradley Langford. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gav Ansell in the 87th minute of play forced Padiham's goalkeeper Lenny Constantine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 88 played minutes Padiham got a freekick which was hit by Jerry Cuss. 94 minutes in the game, Daryl Marsden fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Nath Dunn having to interfere. Coalville's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
