In the 4th match minute, Great Ayton` was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Copsey to maneuver through the defense. Ivan Schofield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jez Truscott having to interfere. In the 9th minute, Rodney Osbon fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jez Truscott, passed just outside the right post. Vic Chapman hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 14th match minute, Dunchurch United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sam Jaramillo to maneuver through the defense. Louie Bennett came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Great Ayton`'s Roy Byrne. But to his dismay, Roy Byrne quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Great Ayton`'s zone, Ivan Schofield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jez Truscott came out of the goal and Ivan Schofield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Great Ayton`'s Robin Boyce got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute, Great Ayton`'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rodney Osbon fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Schofield in the 29th minute of play forced Great Ayton`'s goalkeeper Jez Truscott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Great Ayton` booed when Dunchurch United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Butler didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tony Reynolds in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Louie Bennett saved Dunchurch United from getting behind. Ivan Schofield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ivan Schofield got free with Jez Truscott in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ian Copsey charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ian Copsey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Great Ayton`'s Ian Copsey got a free kick in the 41st minute. Billy Flemming kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rodney Osbon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 56 minutes, Rodney Osbon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunchurch United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodney Osbon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Dunchurch United getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Sam Jaramillo hit a great ball. Rodney Osbon might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jez Truscott. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodney Osbon ran back to his position shaking his head. Billy Flemming fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jez Truscott having to interfere. If Rodney Osbon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Vic Chapman fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dunchurch United's protests and gave Vic Chapman a yellow card for diving instead. Vic Chapman hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute, Great Ayton`'s Roy Byrne ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Louie Bennett. Louie Bennett yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Lance Birch made in the 88th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Dunchurch United's Sam Jaramillo. Sam Jaramillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dave Sykes's late challenge caught a Great Ayton`'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dave Sykes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 94th minute, Dave Sykes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
