The crowd rose to their feet as Aaron Douglas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wayne Wing. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. In the 9th minute Kev Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Ryder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matthew Ryder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kev Hughes in the 11th minute of the match. Wayne Wing showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Douglas, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute, Bobby White fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Wayne Wing, passed just outside the right post. In the 19th minute Kev Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Ryder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huey Lancaster in the 21st minute of play forced Kendal's goalkeeper Matthew Ryder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Aaron Douglas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kendal's supporters rose to their feet, but Aaron Douglas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wayne Wing breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute, Kendal's Aaron Douglas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wayne Wing. Wayne Wing yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. If Bobby White had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Kev Hughes notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Kendal's Matthew Ryder. Matthew Ryder was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 39 minutes, Huey Lancaster managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norwich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Huey Lancaster was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute Kev Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Ryder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Kendal booed when Norwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Merchant didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aaron Douglas made a kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Kendal's Aaron Douglas made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wayne Wing was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Huey Lancaster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute, Kendal's Mike Martin seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Mike Martin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Kendal protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mike Martin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 62 minutes into the game, one of Kendal:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 65 minutes, Norwich's Matty Sands got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Matthew Ryder. With his leg Matthew Ryder managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Norwich's Huey Lancaster fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 79 minutes into the match, Kendal's goalkeeper Matthew Ryder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Huey Lancaster. In the 82nd minute, Kev Hughes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matthew Ryder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kev Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norwich's Huey Lancaster got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Kev Hughes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Norwich booed when Kendal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niall Hirst didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Huey Lancaster got free with Matthew Ryder in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. For all the effort they put into the match, the Norwich players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Kendal.
