Gareth Reddington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ron Caine in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodney Tyler in the 14th minute of play forced Golders Green AFC's goalkeeper Ivan Townson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gareth Reddington showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tristram Birchall, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Ron Caine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Townson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodney Tyler in the 23rd minute of play. A hard shot 25 in the game by Rodney Tyler from a close distance when the talented Ivan Townson managed to make a qualified save. Golders Green AFC's players were relieved. If Tristram Birchall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Russell Stockley fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelsea FC's protests and gave Russell Stockley a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Golders Green AFC booed when Chelsea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Russell Stockley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gareth Reddington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ron Caine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ron Caine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gareth Reddington having to interfere. Ron Caine recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

A collision led to Golders Green AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Ken Halloran hit a great ball. After 54 played minutes, Chelsea FC's Dom Ford shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ivan Townson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Tristram Birchalls short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Gareth Reddington to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ron Caine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the match, Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Gareth Reddington had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tristram Birchall. When Tristram Birchall came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Golders Green AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tristram Birchall couldn't finish the play. 87 minutes into the match, Chelsea FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ron Caine came free, but Gareth Reddington reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Chelsea FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jay Spacey to maneuver through the defense. Chelsea FC's Gareth Reddington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ron Caine in the 92nd minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Ron Caine lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Gareth Reddington. The Golders Green AFC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Chelsea FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
