A wasted opportunity for Bethnal Green and Hackney City. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dale Nash in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rio Mason saved Bethnal Green and Hackney City from getting behind. Sean Bartram fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnnie West having to interfere. Rio Mason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Nash, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Flushing's Johnnie West proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Flushing from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes, Bethnal Green and Hackney City's Syd Hopkinson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Johnnie West came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bethnal Green and Hackney City reached it. Martyn Notley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnnie West having to interfere. In the 41st match minute, Bethnal Green and Hackney City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvester Peat to maneuver through the defense. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dale Nash to make the kick off. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the match, Flushing's goal looked a bit too open when Martyn Notley came free, but Johnnie West reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johnnie West breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Flushing's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Silvester Peat ran over to the corner to take the kick. Silvester Peat made a great header on Bethnal Green and Hackney City's corner, it was just that Flushing's Johnnie West managed to reach the ball for a save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Flushing had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
