After 32 played minutes Blackfen got a freekick which was hit by Jez Cooke. Bill Westwood might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ivor Lundy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bill Westwood ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th minute, Stephen Malpeli ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivor Lundy was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. 41 minutes into the game, Denny Lester was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grimsby FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blackfen the free kick. Denny Lester kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Pedro Sherman hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Trey Nicoll got a throw-in 47 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Glenn Barone.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Glenn Barone made a kick off. Grimsby FC's Stephen Malpeli got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 53 played minutes Blackfen got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Sherman. Kev Kearney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silvester Dudgeon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glenn Barone, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Silvester Dudgeon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Glenn Barone's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Grimsby FC's Silvester Dudgeon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glenn Barone in the 66th minute of play. After some careless play in the Blackfen defense, Bill Westwood kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivor Lundy. The Blackfen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivor Lundy should have stopped the shot. Kev Kearney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Silvester Dudgeon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glenn Barone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. In the 90th match minute, Blackfen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jez Cooke to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bill Westwood in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivor Lundy prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
