After 5 played minutes Shepshed got a freekick which was hit by Alastair Branch. 8 minutes into the game, Selsdon City's Brian Réal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pierre Cryer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 11th minute Ronnie Masters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Swain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brian Réal scored 0-2 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pierre Cryer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pierre Cryer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ashley Wiseman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the match, Brian Réal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pierre Cryer. Shepshed's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brian Réal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 28th minute Brian Réal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre Cryer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Shepshed's goal looked a bit too open when Casey Norman came free, but Pierre Cryer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alastair Branch during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th minute, Alastair Branch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lewis Greenman might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pierre Cryer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lewis Greenman ran back to his position shaking his head. After 43 minutes, Seb Bonds mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shepshed and the Selsdon City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute, Seb Bonds hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

After some careless play in the Shepshed defense, Casey Norman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pierre Cryer. The Shepshed fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pierre Cryer should have stopped the shot. Brian Réal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pierre Cryer having to make a save. 60 minutes into the match, Shepshed's goal looked a bit too open when Casey Norman came free, but Pierre Cryer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shepshed's Pierre Cryer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Shepshed from getting a goal against them. 64 minutes into the game, Casey Norman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pierre Cryer. Casey Norman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. Pierre Cryer didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 70th minute, which inside left pole to 0-7. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Brian Réal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Selsdon City's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Réal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pierre Cryer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pierre Cryer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Norman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shepshed's Pierre Cryer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casey Norman in the 80th minute of play. Brian Réal received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pierre Cryer came out and tried to block the shot, but Brian Réal slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 82nd minute. Russ Edwards might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pierre Cryer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Russ Edwards ran back to his position shaking his head. Brian Réals short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Pierre Cryer to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Shepshed booed when Selsdon City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Russ Edwards didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Shepshed fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Selsdon City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
