A collision led to North Kilworth United getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Sidney Charie hit a great ball. In the 46th minute, Christopher Byrne left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wootton Bassett fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

North Kilworth United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Terry Haines was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Scott Draper had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, North Kilworth United's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Gates came free, but Peter Pamplin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noel Gates did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-4 to the left of a surprised Peter Pamplin 68 minutes into the match. Spike Smith kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Scott Draper in the 72nd minute of play forced Wootton Bassett's goalkeeper Calvin Preece to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. North Kilworth United's Scott Draper got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 74 minutes, Terry Haines managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Noel Gates received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Peter Pamplin came out and tried to block the shot, but Noel Gates slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 78th minute. Scott Draper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Calvin Preece tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christopher Byrne got free with Peter Pamplin in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Noel Gates received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Peter Pamplin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Wootton Bassett had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
