Roy Lane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolo Patrido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Hook booed when Gillingham FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ollie Slatter didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Alex Dawson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gillingham FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hook the free kick. 12 minutes into the game, Conal Bradfield cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Roy Lane was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Hook fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Hook's Conal Bradfield looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 18 played minutes Gillingham FC got a freekick which was hit by Allan Wootton. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bartolo Patrido in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roy Lane prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Conal Bradfield put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Roy Lane. In the 36th minute, Alex Dawson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roy Lane stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Conal Bradfield's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Conal Bradfield's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roy Lane read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Ollie Slatter kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Gillingham FC's goalkeeper Roy Lane, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Conal Bradfield in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roy Lane prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Gillingham FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Hook were winning 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Conal Bradfield was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Gillingham FC's zone, Bartolo Patrido stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roy Lane came out of the goal and Bartolo Patrido tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Bartolo Patrido came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Hook fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartolo Patrido couldn't finish the play. Rupert Atkins kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. With a little luck, Gillingham FC's Roy Lane got control of the ball when Conal Bradfield tried to sneak it across the goal line. Conal Bradfield who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Roy Lane when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Roy Lane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolo Patrido in the 66th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bartolo Patrido in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roy Lane prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the match, Hook's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Dawson came free, but Txema Jorquera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gillingham FC's Roy Lane proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Gillingham FC from getting a goal against them. 90 minutes into the match, Gillingham FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolo Patrido came free, but Roy Lane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Colin Wise hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Dawson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Txema Jorquera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hook played a much better game than Gillingham FC and deserved their victory. The Gillingham FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
