Gav Huxtable took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rhys Morrell. Rhys Morrell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Kelvin Llyod could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Rhys Morrell made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Thanet's Abraham Greenfield got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 14th minute, Ivor Reid hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Barrie Halford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barrie Halford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastian Forrest having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Trevor Summerfield got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rhys Morrell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivor Reid, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Conal Ridgeway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rhys Morrell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trevor Summerfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kelvin Llyod kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Sebastian Forrest showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conal Ridgeway, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. A collision led to Wheaton Aston getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Malcolm Elwick hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conal Ridgeway in the 43rd minute of play forced Wheaton Aston's goalkeeper Sebastian Forrest to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gav Huxtable struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Rhys Morrell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wheaton Aston. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Trevor Summerfield to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Conal Ridgeway fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sebastian Forrest, passed just outside the right post. Conal Ridgeway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kelvin Llyod during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Wheaton Aston's zone, Conal Ridgeway stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastian Forrest came out of the goal and Conal Ridgeway tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebastian Forrest was a little too slow when Conal Ridgeway got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 1-1. Thanet's Rhys Morrell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trevor Summerfield in the 74th minute of play. Rhys Morrell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gav Huxtable in the 80th minute of the match. Gav Huxtable fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rhys Morrell having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gav Huxtable in the 87th minute of play forced Thanet's goalkeeper Rhys Morrell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
