With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barney Longden in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Malcolm Castledine saved Malmesbury from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keiran Pearch in the 19th minute of play forced Austell Saints's goalkeeper Andrew Steel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Barney Longden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Malcolm Castledine was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. If Johnathan Wilson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl Clayton kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. A collision led to Austell Saints getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Brendon Pool hit a great ball. Barney Longden in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Malcolm Castledine, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Malmesbury getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Giles Wildman hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Malmesbury's Tommy Black got a free kick in the 35th minute. Malcolm Castledine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barney Longden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Malcolm Castledine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barney Longden, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barney Longden in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Malcolm Castledine saved Malmesbury from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barney Longden in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Malcolm Castledine prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andrew Steel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of William Trotter's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Keiran Pearch was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommy Black in the 52nd minute of play forced Austell Saints's goalkeeper Andrew Steel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barney Longden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Malcolm Castledine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stephen Pritchard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcolm Castledine having to interfere. Malmesbury's Malcolm Castledine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barney Longden in the 62nd minute of play. Malcolm Castledine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barney Longden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Barney Longden came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Austell Saints fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barney Longden couldn't finish the play. Malcolm Castledine didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stephen Pritchard went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the match, Austell Saints's goal looked a bit too open when Karl Clayton came free, but Andrew Steel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Tommy Black notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Austell Saints's Andrew Steel. Andrew Steel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 84 minutes into the match, Malmesbury's goal looked a bit too open when Barney Longden came free, but Malcolm Castledine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Johnathan Wilson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Malcolm Castledine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barney Longden, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
