With a little luck, Tatsfield United's Johnnie Wybrow got control of the ball when Paul Clist tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Reg Wiseman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norman Nightingale hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Tatsfield United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Reg Wiseman 14 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Miles Prior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martyn Brindley in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match Eddie Theobold shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miles Prior showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Tatsfield United's Martyn Brindley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Miles Prior narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th match minute, Poynton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barrie Holland to maneuver through the defense. Johnnie Wybrow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brad Farrell in the 30th minute of play. Poynton's Paul Clist got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joel Bridgeworth kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Johnnie Wybrow was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jasper Lowndes. In the 45th minute, Brad Farrell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joshua Hylton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Miles Prior tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Martyn Brindley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martyn Brindley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Miles Prior having to make a save. The supporters of Tatsfield United booed when Poynton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nath Haxby didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tatsfield United's Joshua Hylton got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Paul Clist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 72 played minutes Poynton got a freekick which was hit by Brad Farrell. In the 75th match minute, Poynton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barrie Holland to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Tatsfield United's Eddie Theobold tried to score from far away in the 77th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Reg Wiseman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnnie Wybrow having to interfere. Joel Bridgeworth hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 89th minute Martyn Brindley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miles Prior saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 93 played minutes Poynton got a freekick which was hit by Paul Clist. Miles Prior took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Brindley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Poynton's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
