Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Louie Thompson in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruben Lawton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 38 minutes into the match, Louie Thompson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruben Lawton. Crewe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Louie Thompson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. If Jeremy Cobb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Crewe's goal looked a bit too open when Louie Thompson came free, but Ruben Lawton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Archie Rush made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Ruben Lawton managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Elektric Power's Louie Thompson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Louie Thompson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Lawton having to interfere. Ruben Lawton was a little too slow when Mickey Nottingham got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 59th minute. The score was now 0-6. The audience was convinced that Louie Thompson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruben Lawton was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Louie Thompsons short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Ruben Lawton to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bart Furlong charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bart Furlong the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Crewe's Bart Furlong got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Archie Rush's late challenge caught a Elektric Power's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 84th minute Elektric Power were awarded a corner. Daniel Whitmore went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Elektric Power's Daniel Whitmore to fire away a dangerous shot which Ruben Lawton despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jeff Hales hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. When the final whistle sounded Elektric Power left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Crewe.
