Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Ash Hough made the kick off which started today's match. The supporters of Barnham FC booed when Houghton le Spring was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeff Friend didn't get a good kick on the ball. Barnham FC's Al Harban got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 14 minutes into the match, Barnham FC's Al Harban sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ty Ferrell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Nathan Durrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ty Ferrell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Al Harban in the 18th minute of the match. Al Harban received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Ty Ferrell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Al Harban in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ty Ferrell saved Houghton le Spring from getting behind. Ash Hough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dominik Grigg having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Barnham FC's goalkeeper Dominik Grigg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nathan Durrant. Houghton le Spring's Nathan Durrant got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Dominik Grigg managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Houghton le Spring's Nathan Durrant fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Houghton le Spring's zone, Al Harban stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ty Ferrell came out of the goal and Al Harban tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dominik Grigg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Graeme Woodward in the 37th minute of the match. Ash Hough sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 45th minute by Nathan Durrant got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Dominik Grigg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ash Hough's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Al Harban stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee gave Houghton le Spring a penalty, 53 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ty McGovern, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Barnham FC's Dominik Grigg. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Barnham FC's Rio Fitzgerald got a free kick in the 57th minute. Graeme Woodward charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Graeme Woodward the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a defensive mix-up in Barnham FC's zone, Nathan Durrant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dominik Grigg came out of the goal and Nathan Durrant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ash Hough came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Houghton le Spring fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ash Hough couldn't finish the play. 71 minutes into the game, Peter Rigg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barnham FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Houghton le Spring the free kick. Peter Rigg hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rio Fitzgerald during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rio Fitzgerald kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute of the match Ty McGovern shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dominik Grigg showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dominik Grigg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ash Hough in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathan Durrant in the 86th minute of play forced Barnham FC's goalkeeper Dominik Grigg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeff Friend in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dominik Grigg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ty Ferrell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ivor Clarke in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute, Al Harban fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ty Ferrell, passed just outside the right post. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Barnham FC's goalkeeper Dominik Grigg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Houghton le Spring's Nathan Durrant got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Houghton le Spring walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
