Spectators: 6690 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1690, VIP seats: 0) Coombe's Kurt Friebe started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Martyn Symons blasted a shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sly Davey having to make a save. Keith Gold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Friebe in the 5th minute of the match. Sly Davey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Symons, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Coombe getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Zak Pitt hit a great ball. Sly Davey came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Formby's Marlon Lynch. But to his dismay, Marlon Lynch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Coombe's Kurt Friebe got a free kick in the 16th minute. Martyn Symons's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sly Davey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Marlon Lynch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Coombe booed when Formby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rowan Meadowcroft didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ash Bayford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Russ Dobson's late challenge caught a Coombe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russ Dobson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, one of Formby:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Formby. Sly Davey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Symons, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Marlon Lynch blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sly Davey having to make a save. After the first half Formby were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marlon Lynch was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Martyn Symons fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marlon Lynch in the 54th minute of play forced Coombe's goalkeeper Sly Davey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Formby's Marlon Lynch got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 59 minutes into the match, Martyn Symons notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Coombe's Sly Davey. Sly Davey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Coombe getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Zak Pitt hit a great ball. Sly Davey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marlon Lynch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Coombe's Sly Davey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Coombe from getting a goal against them. Martyn Symons struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Sly Davey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Formby. A hard shot 75 in the game by Martyn Symons from a close distance when the talented Sly Davey managed to make a qualified save. Coombe's players were relieved. Coombe's Sly Davey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marlon Lynch in the 77th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Formby's Marlon Lynch dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. Russ Dobson kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Keith Gold came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Coombe's Ash Bayford. But to his dismay, Ash Bayford quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. A collision led to Coombe getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Zak Pitt hit a great ball. After 90 played minutes Formby got a freekick which was hit by Jeff Harris. The Coombe fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Formby were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
