West Bridgford's Jermaine Hanley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nigel Sheringham in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cliff Bond in the 24th minute of play forced West Bridgford's goalkeeper Jermaine Hanley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jermaine Hanley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nigel Sheringham, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Wesley Roche recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Cliff Bond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pierre Dowrick kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Verne Crayon charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Verne Crayon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 38th minute Cliff Bond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jermaine Hanley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Black Country's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Shane Faulkner in the 40th minute. Cliff Bond's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jermaine Hanley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Cliff Bond made the kick off in the second half. Jason Rawlings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calum Peakman, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 62nd match minute, West Bridgford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Verne Crayon to maneuver through the defense. Nigel Sheringham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Black Country's goalkeeper Jason Rawlings, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Verne Crayon kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Cliff Bond got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nigel Sheringham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Mike York fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored West Bridgford's protests and gave Mike York a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, West Bridgford's Mike York got a free kick in the 85th minute. Jermaine Hanley was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 89th minute, Cliff Bond reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jermaine Hanley. The goal made the score 1-1. A hard shot 93 in the game by Nigel Sheringham from a close distance when the talented Jermaine Hanley managed to make a qualified save. West Bridgford's players were relieved. Jermaine Hanley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cliff Bond in the 96th minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
