In the 18th minute Tod Pallister shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ethan Holbrook saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20thth minute of the game Brandon Butt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Down Grange Albion's Don Stead was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Tod Pallister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rob Gardner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Don Stead having to interfere. Rob Gardner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Don Stead made a huge save. Down Grange Albion's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Brandon Butt scored to the left of an out of position Don Stead, making the score, 2-0. 34 minutes into the match, Poole's goal looked a bit too open when Tod Pallister came free, but Ethan Holbrook reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dan Rutherford came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Down Grange Albion fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dan Rutherford couldn't finish the play. Ethan Holbrook came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Down Grange Albion's Alfred Thompson. But to his dismay, Alfred Thompson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 51st minute, Rob Gardner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Poole fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Down Grange Albion's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marty Carragher was slow to take the kick. During this time Poole's players had a chance to rest.
