The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Donald Digby during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Donald Digby hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After 5 played minutes, FC Barn Door's Colin Gillow shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jeremy Wardman came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Barn Door reached it. Jeremy Wardman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Graydon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Russell Partridge recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 12 minutes into the match, FC Barn Door's goalkeeper Trevor Bettinson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Russell Partridge. In the 17th minute of the match Ethan Ansell sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jeremy Wardman skillfully saved the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Hurst Green AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Frazer Hook came free, but Jeremy Wardman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pierce Wardle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Trevor Bettinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frazer Hook in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeremy Wardman saved Hurst Green AFC from getting behind. Jonathan Graydon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Wardman having to interfere. Frazer Hook might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jeremy Wardman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frazer Hook ran back to his position shaking his head. Frazer Hook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Wardman having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Russell Partridge got free with Trevor Bettinson in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Pierce Wardle made the kick off in the second half. After 50 minutes, Julian Boulding mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hurst Green AFC and the FC Barn Door players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 50th minute, Julian Boulding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Connor Stiles hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC Barn Door's Ethan Ansell got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Frazer Hook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Wardman having to interfere. Frazer Hook received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Jeremy Wardman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pierce Wardle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julian Boulding hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Pierce Wardle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hurst Green AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierce Wardle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trevor Bettinson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to FC Barn Door getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Connor Stiles hit a great ball. Russell Partridge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trevor Bettinson having to interfere. If Pierce Wardle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Graydon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Jeremy Wardman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 94 played minutes FC Barn Door got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Coulshaw. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
