Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Danny Moore took the kick off in the first half of the match. A collision led to Woolton getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Danny Moore hit a great ball. The supporters of Woolton booed when Plumstead United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Dalton didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vernon Woodyat got free with Basil Boatman in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Vernon Woodyat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastian Nevin hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Danny Moore received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Basil Boatman came out and tried to block the shot, but Danny Moore slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, Woolton's Danny Moore ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Basil Boatman. Basil Boatman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After 26 played minutes Plumstead United got a freekick which was hit by Giles Crooks. Vernon Woodyat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basil Boatman didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 32nd minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. Danny Moore blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Basil Boatman having to make a save. In the 39th minute, Danny Moore got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Woolton booed when Plumstead United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Beardsley didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wally Goodwin to make the kick off. Dane Crooks charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dane Crooks the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Basil Boatman had in the 55thth minute some difficulties stopping Robin Carter's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 55th minute, Robin Carter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Woolton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. After 60 minutes, Ben Avery mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Woolton and the Plumstead United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th minute, Ben Avery hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd minute Wally Goodwin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norman Winterburn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 65thth minute of the game Danny Moore who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Plumstead United's Basil Boatman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. John Cullen's late challenge caught a Woolton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. John Cullen helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Plumstead United's John Cullen got a free kick in the 66th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Wally Goodwin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Plumstead United's supporters rose to their feet, but Wally Goodwin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Norman Winterburn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vernon Woodyat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil Boatman having to interfere. If Danny Moore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee showed Sebastian Nevin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 77 played minutes Plumstead United got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Nevin. When Danny Moore came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Woolton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Moore couldn't finish the play. Gez Quantrill hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Woolton's Vernon Woodyat got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basil Boatman came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Woolton's Vernon Woodyat. But to his dismay, Vernon Woodyat quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Danny Moore might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Basil Boatman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Danny Moore ran back to his position shaking his head. Danny Moore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil Boatman having to interfere. Woolton walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
