Syd Barratt came out of the goal and Marcus Brighton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Derek Howard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Syd Barratt having to interfere. Giuseppe Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julian Fenton made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Jerome Butterfield sent off a good shot on target. 25 minutes into the match, Sandown FC's goal looked a bit too open when Curtis Kennedy came free, but Julian Fenton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julian Fenton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curtis Kennedy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute, Guy Poole hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julian Fenton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curtis Kennedy, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Sandown FC's Piers Avery got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 41st minute Curtis Kennedy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julian Fenton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Curtis Kennedy came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Portsmouth AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curtis Kennedy couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Curtis Kennedy was the one to do the kick off. Julian Fenton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerome Butterfield in the 54th minute of the match. Marcus Brighton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Piers Avery came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Sandown FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Piers Avery couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Marcus Brighton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sandown FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus Brighton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Syd Barratt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Piers Avery sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Phil Baxter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Syd Barratt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Syd Barratt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derek Howard in the 68th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Curtis Kennedy in the 69th minute of play forced Sandown FC's goalkeeper Julian Fenton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the game, Max Shotton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portsmouth AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sandown FC the free kick. In the 72nd minute, Max Shotton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74th minute Jerome Butterfield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julian Fenton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sandown FC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. 冯邦泉 hit a great ball. Paul Armitage recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jerome Butterfield during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 80th match minute, Portsmouth AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerome Butterfield to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Lance Brownlow in the 84th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Sandown FC's Phil Baxter. Syd Barratt made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Phil Baxter sent off a good shot on target. Curtis Kennedy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julian Fenton having to interfere.
