Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Sunderland's Adrian Darling in the 8th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Ben Rain was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Newark through an amazing save. In the 13th minute, Martyn Coulson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ben Rain was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Adrian Darling showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 14 minute of play. Adrian Darling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With his leg Ben Rain managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Sunderland's Colin Johnstone fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Newark booed when Sunderland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ashley Tomkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Darling in the 57th minute of play forced Newark's goalkeeper Ben Rain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ben Rain came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Sunderland's Freddie Rundle. But to his dismay, Freddie Rundle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ashley Tomkin in the 63rd minute of play forced Newark's goalkeeper Ben Rain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martyn Coulson kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Freddie Rundle kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Colin Johnstone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Freddie Rundle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ben Rain made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Darling in the 83rd minute of play. Guy Perryman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sly Baum in the 85th minute of the match. Sunderland's defense didn't have a chance, in the 86th minute, when Hugh Nicoll scored to the left of an out of position Guy Perryman, making the score, 2-2. Sunderland's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
